Pambujan Int’l Film fest awards Iran's ‘Death of Birthday’

The 7th Pambujan Int'l Film Festival in the Philippines awards Iranian short film ‘Death of Birthday’.

Iranian short film ‘Death of Birthday’ has been awarded at the 7th Pambujan International Film Festival in the Philippines.

'Death of Birthday', directed by Alireza Saadi, marked its second international screening at the Pambujan fest where it succeeded to receive the best international short film award.

Written by Javad Khoursha, the short narrates the story of a girl named Sarah who is celebrating her birthday.

A tagline to the short film reads, “Not always a birthday present is pleasing. It can sometimes bring you closer to death. Today’s Sarah’s birthday and a present is delivered to her”.

Tanaz Bideh and Parviz Aqazadeh are the actors of the short flick.

‘Death of Birthday’ was previously screened at the 2021 World Independent Cinema Awards (WICA) in New York.

According to earlier reports by iFilm English website, Mohammad Kharratzadeh’s ‘Zaferanieh, near Sunset’ and ‘The Descendants’ by Yaser Talebi were also among Iranian best film winners of the festival.

Launched in 2009, the Pambujan International Film Festival helps “encourage and educate the community to unleash their potential in art.”

The event runs under the motto ‘Dare to Dream’, pushing the people to develop “their artistry instead of just mere observers”.

The 2022 edition of the festival was held in Pambujan, Eastern Philippines on January 17-21, and the winners were announced last week.
